We bought an Ashfield Farm, roast in the bag stuffed British chicken from Aldi in Elland West Yorkshire and when I was preparing it this morning there wasn't any stuffing in it!

You dont prepare it. You stick it in the oven in the bag, no prep involved
We had this tonight, loads of stuffing in ours, but the meat was still pink near the bones, after 2.5hrs in the oven, even though the juices ran clear. Seem to be finding this alot lately with chicken, is it the way they breed/treat/slaugter them?0 -

No, it's your oven. Sounds like it's not working properly.
If i cooked a chicken in mine for 2 and a half hours at 180 degrees, it would be burnt to a crisp :eek:0 -
Its recommended (no i don't know who by, i don't care and no i can't be bothered to find a link, just something i heard at some point in the past)
that you don't stuff your chicken as the stuffing is blocking the heat getting right into the cavity to cook though, unless of course you have the thermometer gadget that you can use whilst cooking to keep checking the temp to ensure its fully cooked all over.
Just a mere suggestion use a loaf tin with a liner and cook stuffing separate.0 -
I recall seeing similar advice - may even have been Saturday Kitchen or another cookery show.0

I can't say I would fancy eating that had been stuffed in a chicken anyway, especially if it had been hanging around in a supermarket chiller for a week. I always put whatever I have to hand inside the chicken and make separate stuffing balls.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

This is different to the horse meat issue where it was clear that the public couldn't tell the difference and so the supplier was unlikely to be found out. Here if a customer buys a stuffed chicken and there's no stuffing they're going to notice and a reasonable minority of them will complain.0 -
