Talk Talk Package - Offered discount - but only verbally

Hi,
I have been a Talk Talk customer for 2 years, but was planning to switch a few weeks ago, as Sky were offering a better deal ( via MSE link ) - I called Talk Talk to cancel and they offered me a better deal to stay - ie same price as sky, but they would throw in a tv box.
However, on receving a new welcome letter, i noted that what was in writing wasnt what i agreed.
1 ) - it stated an 18 month contract - i agreed a 12 month contract
2 ) - i was offered a substantial discount on the BB and TV package ( i didnt even require the TV but it was thrown in for free) which werent stated in the letter - The welcome letter is stating the full cost for the 18 months - which is more than Sky.
I called TT who have ammened the contract to 12 months. But when i asked for something in writing to confirm the discount was to be applied for the full 12 months, they stated isnt isnt something they can provide. Apparently discount bundles can only be applied in a block of 3 month periods, so i would need to call in May to get this discount re-applied for a further 3 months...
I pushed again for something in writing, but was told this isnt an option, but there are notes on my file ( i have name, date and time ) stating this..
Any thoughts / experience on this.. I'd rather cancel and switch if this is a known money generator - ie i get hit with a larger bill for 9 months, as they deny this offer..
Thanks
