I find ice cream the worst as they measure it on volume, even though when bought its solid.
That's because it's whipped up with air, so selling it by volume makes the cheap stuff look better value.
Nothing to stop you taking a couple of tubs to the self-weigh scales in the greengrocery dept though.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

My local Sansburys has a very old suspended set of scales which are not set up to give a correct weight reading in the vegetable isle.
Know doubt they can get away with it because they can say its a guide set of scales. The real scales are the ones on the checkout. The more I live, the more I learn.

That is correct, they are just a guide, although they can't mislead. They will regularly get audited with a weight and results recorded. They do in Morrisons anyway.0 -

The scales at the checkouts need be correct because of the law . As if you bought 500g of loose produce, you don't want to be charged more than 500g.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

LeeUK Said :- None at all. It's not me complaining. Customer scales get checked with an old skool weight and if wrong they get fixed.
Well the scales usually say about 100grammes on the dial before you even put stuff on it.
When you do try and adjust it, it's a bit sluggish and awkward to zero it.
To be honest by the state of the scales I doubt they have ever been checked for weight correctly.
Sounds like I should dob in my local Sainsburys to head office. The more I live, the more I learn.
