ActionFraud is the police
Not exactly, it's a national call centre. Who collect information about fraud, if you score enough points it's gets a police investigation. If you put in a call for service to the police it gets recorded as a crime and investigated straight away.
If you think it's civil and not a police matter then why did you suggest actionfraud do their job? I put it to you you're ignorant of the facts.0 -

It's what should happen, unless you can evidence to the contrary.

Not always, if they consider it fraud they will direct you to ActionFraud so it gets reported to the NFIB who handle Fraud
You clearly never read my last post. click on the NFIB link at see where it takes youThe service is run by the City of London Police working alongside the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau who are responsible for assessment of the reports and to ensure that your fraud reports reach the right place.0 -

It will end up with the OPs grandmothers local force is they report a fraud, so why not go direct to them?
because it gets collated nationally and sometimes internationally, does not say it will go to here local force. i once has an officer turn up from a neighbouring force when i reported a fraud issue0 -

Well you were obviously a victim of fraud in that force area. In this case any offence took place at the home address.0 -

No the Fraud happened at my home, it was assigned to the neighbouring force due to the fact they had similar cases.
I have even had someone place a 28K cheque in my bank account ( no idea how they were going to get it back). i spotted this and contact my bank and i had a call from Thames Valley police and i am at the other end of the country, this same officer even travelled to have a chat with me0 -

So either the victim or offence location was in Thames Valley. Else they had the offender.0 -

No as crimes are allocated to specific units and if similar crimes have been reported then it will be given to that crime unit.
Have you never heard of crimes being allocated to other forces due to similar offences in their force area. Yes they have to liaise and inform your local force, but this does not mean it will be investigated by the local force0
