Local housing association who took over all the council housing a few years ago say they collect the water rates along with the rent. What if I wanted to get a water meter installed and pay my own water bills, is this allowed in council housing?
I have a meter currently in my own house and I've saved over £100 a year for the last 2 years on the meter compared to water rates.
I forgot to ask them about it yesterday when I had a meeting with them for a property.
Probably not but I would ask that they charge you no more than what the water company would assess if you could be billed separately and could not have a meter which if single could be less than the rateable amount.
