The peril of a box with a lid is it just ends up getting kicked out of the front. My maine coon boy bolts out of the litter box so the litter goes everywhere. The flap has been ripped off so many times that I leave it off now. Then the moggie goes in and kicks loads of litter out!
I'm considering getting a carpet sweeper so I dont have to drag the hoover out every time one of them goes to the tray.0 -
Get a little handheld vac for stray litter. Ours has changed our lives.
We just take it with us, along with the scoop and nappy sack, when we go on a scooping round.
EDIT: It's a sign from above... The one we got is currently half price on Amazon at £25:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vax-H86-GA-B-Handheld-Vacuum-Cleaner/dp/B00HRWMA1Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424692550&sr=8-1&keywords=handheld+vac
We paid £40 and thought it was worth every penny! Recommended to cat owners everywhere. Handheld vacs don't have amazing suction - I wouldn't do my muddy car footwells with it - but they're perfect for kitty litter.
Although the battery only lasts about 15 mins from a full-charge, we only charge it every 1-2 weeks as it gets used for <30 seconds at a time.0 -
Cheers, it would work if I was at home (as I am now as out of work) all the time but normally when I do work...
clean both trays, sweep around them before work
come back from work - litter EVERYWHERE (so hand held no use) as Macius dug it out, 4 cats plus dog carried on their paws everywhere, some mixed with water when the dog had a drink and slobbered over it

I suppose it is the price we pay for having pets,I for one would rather have cat litter sprinkled round the house and my cats than an immaculate empty home and am sure you would not be without any of your lot.Hope Zara is well, she is a beautiful GSD.0
