I pay £100 for a student permit and I've been fined by UKPC

I have read through the various NCP and private car parking threads, but wanted to check if my case was any different because it is in a university and not a private business car park.
I am a paying permit holder but, because my paper permit didn't happen to be on my windscreen today, I've been fined £60 by UKPC (£100 if over 14 days)
After contacting the student centre at my university, despite knowing that I paid for a permit, they insist I must pay the fine because I didn't display the permit. (FYI, they know my number plate is registered as having a permit and it is recognised every day as the barriers open via number plate recognition, so this is why it seems ridiculous)
Should I ignore it?

No you pay them their loss, their loss = nothing. Wait for NTK and appeal using template on here.0

No, no difference at all.0

NO!
but you can ignore the advice given to you by the student center......
Your case is no different to others so read again and submit an appeal to the PPC NCP .
I would go back to the the student center and ask them to check their advice as you will prove them wrong!
Also contact the university its self to find out which department covers parking and complain to them.

So if barrier opens via ANPR, why the need for a permit, other than to make a quick buck?0
-
its an INVOICE , not a FINE
thought you would know that from your research so far
dont give it legal credit or credence where none is due
it could be an unenforceable invoice, so you appeal it in such a manner
wait for the NTK and then appeal it0 -
Apologies, looking at the "parking charge" again, it's actually UKPC and not NPC. I presume this changes nothing.0

Changes nothing.0

edit post #1 including the title to reflect this change , to prevent any confusion
(advanced edit), and as mentioned above, it changes nothing

The student centre said it is very clear I violated the terms, as it mentions you must display the permit at all times (regardless of them having my registration).
Quoting the regulations:Vehicles not displaying a current vehicle permit will be deemed not to be registered and subject to sanctions.0 -
Does your Uni have a law department?
If so, I would advise that your Student Centre seeks some advice from them.0
