Cheaper rate was on Alpharooms.com...

By the way, you may want to post your successful claim details on the FlyerTalk Forums' Marriott board. The thread is HERE (you'll see a few of mine there too

If this booking is cancellable then if you want to save more $$ I'd read my Priceline guide and decide whether it works for you.
The Marriott Marquis comes up often on PL and can be won for around less than $200 inclusive of tax.0 -
I thought you didn't find out the name of your hotel on Priceline till you've paid and its non-refundable??
So could I end up with a totally different hotel where i dont want to stay??0 -

So could I end up with a totally different hotel where i dont want to stay??
Correct.
However with good research this risk can be reduced.
If this risk outweighs the potential money $aving then PL or Hotwire is not for you.0 -
How much can it be reduced??
Could I be 90% sure of the hotel I was bidding on?0 -
IMHO I would say 80%
Look at this map of the Priceline hotels won and their respective winning bids.
This list gives the most likely hotels to be won.
If I were you
I'd read my guide fully and if you want to bid with PL then register with Betterbidding and ask for a strategy.
Ask me more questions if you want as well but please read the guide first.
With a fully cancellable back up reservation that you have already you have plenty of time and flexibility to learn how PL and Hotwire works.
Once happy with them both then you can bid if you wish.
However as you've said if you win it's final :eek:0
