Counterfeit Item from Ebay

  • Thanks for the advice. The seller contacted me after I opened a case saying she didn't know it was fake and to return it. In the meantime I took it to my local jewellers even though I definitely know its fake but just to compare it to the real one. It is completely different and an obvious fake when you see them together. Anyway I said I would return it but eBay says the seller has to generate the postage label for me to print so I don't pay for return postage. I pointed this out but haven't heard back from the seller. I had been watching other charms they had for sale which also on closer inspection also look like they could have been fakes so they may have a few people after a refund now I don't know. I suppose I will just have to wait and see what happens next and hope that if the seller doesn't respond that eBay will refund me or wait a week until they will intervene but I think its unfair having to wait so long for it to be sorted when its something counterfeit. At the minute it just says I have to return it and the seller should generate the label.

All the seller has to do is click into your case you opened and click "accept return", then you get your label. If they wont do that - they are stalling.

or they are fully aware they are selling fakes and wont accept a return as they have your money and that's all they want

I may well be wrong but somewhere I seem to recall reading that it was actually illegal to knowingly send (including return) a counterfeit item.
As I said it may well be wrong but if you have had corroboration from a third party then you should just be seeking a refund from Ebay without having to return it.

These items are easy to come by in China, there are loads of copy items that cost pennies, passing them off as genuine is a serious offence. If the seller is selling more of them then it seems quite wrong to not be reporting it to Trading Standards for them to investigate further.

  • Ah yes, a 3 [STRIKE]week ago [/STRIKE]poster, we can all pull those up!

So yours in 2013 and a newbie. Not bad going. Hardly rife.

But as I said, my point was protection has changed; for bonafide cases ;)

I fail to see why being new to this forum has anything to do with the issue.

My post flagged genuine issues with ebays response and customer service in Jan 2015....I don't think they take fakes seriously so have closed my account....after it was closed in my favour.

I am amazed at how many people are defending fake products on this forum.

My advice is to email or phone eBay and quite their policy back to them....the one flagged above....and once you get your money back consider if you want to use eBay again based on your experience
