Counterfeit Item from Ebay

I bought a thomas sabo charm from ebay but when it arrived it was clearly a fake. Its not stamped, its really shiny metal etc. I have opened a case against the seller but I just wondered what ebay policies are against counterfeit items. I paid quite a bit of money and postage costs for this item. Obviously if I am asked to send it back it will cost me money to send it recorded delivery to get proof it was delivered but I dont see why I should be out of pocket even in the slightest for them selling dodgey goods. I never buy myself anything so I am gutted to have been sold a copy when I finally decided to make a purchase. Is it just going to be a case of sending it back and being refunded for the item alone and being out of pocket for original postage and return postage costs and lesson learned? I know it wont cost much to post it back its just the principle really.

If you suspect/know an item is fake you shouldn't be returning it. Get in touch with Trading Standards and ask their advice as to what to do next..0

If you do return do not use recorded delivery, use special delivery.
Recorded does not always show as delivered.0 -

If a buyer suspects that an item is counterfeit and there are strong indicators that the item is counterfeit, the buyer isn’t required to return the item to the seller. The buyer agrees to cooperate with us to ensure the proper disposal of the item. In such cases, we refund the buyer for the full cost of the item and original postage, and the seller reimburses us for the refund. The buyer may not sell the item on eBay or elsewhere..0 -

If this is a business seller, open a case for SNAD.0 -
Don't return a fake item, it needs to be turned over to trading standards I think to be destroyed.
I once brought an item that turned out to be fake, seller in that case just refunded as soon as I emailed pointing out several signs on the item that proved it was fake (I had alot of knowledge on the item being a collector and it was an item that was a hobby of mine). The item was later destroyed.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

"Quite clear" until it gets down to actually get a resolution under their buyer protection that is.
