    I've been Money Tipped!
Why is this even a thread? What a silly question! Do you really expect ANYONE on a money saving site to say they leave it?

We find one bottle is not enough and two is too much.

I don't know why there is any confusion over 'off licence sales'.
Presumably the bottle was opened in the restaurant and therefore bought for in house sales for which the restaurant have a license.

It was not bought and sold as an off license sale but as part of a meal.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

In our pub I always offer to get the cork/cap if someone has leftover wine-they do not need to ask. It's theirs. If they leave it, it goes down the sink! So I'd much rather they took it (& filled up their own recycling bin)
  • I can't believe this is even a question!

We always take the rest of the bottle home. We often ask the waiter to bring us the cork with the wine when we order it in case we don't finish the bottle – this has never even caused a raised eyebrow.
  • More than once, we've eaten in a restaurant and ordered a glass of wine each and the waiter has suggested we buy a bottle and take what we don't drink home. So, yes, taking what you've not drunk is perfectly OK.

It's not that easy to circumvent the licencing laws. The law is not confused, with respect perhaps you are.
