Problem with mastercard secure code - Halifax card

Hi
I recently got my first credit card, the halifax clarity for going away travelling to Asia in a few weeks, but i am having trouble using it online.
I have tried to order of a few different sites but once i get to the mastercard secure code page it comes up that the payment cannot be processed with a c5 code.
I have phone halifax twice and the card is fine,

Any one know what the problem might be? I read up on the mastercard site about the secure code but i am unsure how to sign up for it, or if i even need to?

Thanks in advance

You need to call the Fraud department as there will be a block on your account and any transactions will fail until you go through their security verification and confirm that it is you making the transactions.

IIRC, if the card provider requires this, you are asked to register when making an online purchase.

    I don't remember about Clarity.

    http://www.mastercard.co.uk/securecode.html suggests:
Sign up now - it's easyrolleyes.gif. Select your financial institution from the list below:
    However, if you click

    Register Now!

you land to "Problem loading page. Sorry, the page you’re looking for can’t be found.":rotfl:

Don't sign up! The sign up process itself is insecure and time consuming, and then you've got to go through the rigmarole of "2nd letter of your passphrase, 5th letter of your passphrase" and all the rest of it before you can buy anything online, and half the time it fails. And, it doesn't protect you from fraud (you are already protected). It only protects the bank - maybe.

I had a similar problem on the 0% cc. Halifax insisted it was a fraud check, then admitted there was something wrong with the card and sent me a new one. I still have problems in shops as for some reason it won't recognise my pin, but fortunately I've bought everything I needed to use the card for, so it doesn't matter.
