Do you get Child Maintenance off the ex who has deserted you?
What is your credit rating like?
For a start, why do you need to spend £75 on Virgin Media???
Is that TV/Phone and such like? I am shocked.0 -
Just wanted to say hi and welcome
All is not lost so don't worry, well done for posting your information there is plenty of people here that can help you and advise about how to cut back and suggest places you can get help.
Do you have to spend so much on petrol, I presume you must drive to work? Can the Virgin package be cut down, is that for your telephone, tv and internet? Why not start doing packed lunches instead of school dinners, would that save you money? Or maybe you might be eligable for free school dinners?
Have you checked any benefits you might be entitled to?
I hope you get loads of ideas on this board, keep posting and let us know how you're getting on

Hi. The answer for you may be a debt management plan from CCCS or Payplan as you have so many debts. They are free charities who sort it all out for you and are very helpful. CCCS has an online questionnaire you can fill in for guidance which doesn't commit you to anything.
Your spending isn't unreasonable, although your petrol seems high and you could save money by making packed lunches instead of forking out for school dinners. What does the payment to virgin media cover as this seems a little high? It would help if you could tell us the APRs on your overdrafts and credit cards. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I would downgrade on Virgin as far as you can, it will save you a huge amount each month.
Is there a cheaper supplier for your electric? Also your car insurance - try confused.com to see if you can get it cheaper.
How much do you have in your emergency fund? Could you use that to catch up with your council tax?
I would definitely call CCCS for some advice.

Good luck with your call to CCCS, I know you will feel better for it.
I'm sure you could get a better deal for your tv/phone/internet. Can you ditch virgin or are you tied in to a contract?

Hiya,
You don't have to call CCCS. You can fill out the debt remedy online without talking to anyone. Then if they offer it, you can accept the DMP online too.
I started my DMP with them and the only phone call was that I hadn't sent them one of the account numbers
That's why I chose CCCS and not Payplan, because you don't have to ring them if you don't want to.
I email them any queries and they usually reply next day

You should get council tax benefit Id have thought your incoem is very low. What about contribution from Dad, why is he not paying? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
TF,
The people at CCCS are lovely - no courage needed to call them hun.
Do you not get any maintenance for your daughter?
Enquire about council tax benefit, you might be eligible due to your low income.
If Virgin Media wont reduce your package, can you not cancel the TV ?
Car insurance £50pm sounds very high. Look for cheaper and go through Quidco or similar for cash back - I got £120 cash back on mine this time.
Finally from me for now, relax. You've found the right place for help :beer:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Welcome to the madhouse
And don't worry...the CCCS lot are nice people, they are trained to help you with stuff like this and honestly they are good folks. Call them... you'll feel so much better.
As for Virgin Media... tell them you'll cancel your account if they don't reduce it and see if they decide to be more reasonable. If not then see if you CAN leave or if you're tied in for now.
