    Hi Levi

I didn't realise you had not exchanged details either!!! Ok so now just get all your homework done and as the other poster has said make some drawings of the positioning of the vehicles etc. Also make any notes that you can remember of the situation!!! No matter how small or insignificant you think it might be because it may end up being important later on!!!

At the end of the day a professional driver (as in the bus driver), has a legal obligation to exchange details with you. Even if you did not offer/give him your details (for whatever reason) he as a professional driver of a company vehicle should have offered you his company details. Apparently that is the law!!!! So he is at fault for this too!!!!

Just a thought. Did you get the registration number of the bus. Not overly important but it might help when you need to tell you own insurance company.

Good luck with it all Levi. And don't pay out any money yourself, none at all!!! You will get to the end of it soon!!! If you car is ok to drive I wouldn't worry about the repair side of it just yet. Just get all the information together as quickly as possible!!

    Take care

but won't they wonder why we didn't swap insurance details at the time? and if they make me cough up in advance i literally can't because i have no spare money and none on credit lines cos they are all maxed.

    Hi Levi

In answer to your question:- They will wonder why the hell the bus driver did not give his details but not you as often Joe Public drivers don't realise that they need to. It is only later when their brains start to focus properly again and after the shock of it all that they then think about it!! So please stop worrying about that side of it!!!

Also stop worrying about having to cough up hun!!! If you can drive your car, just drive it as normal!!! You won't be the only person that has not given details at the scene of a collision/accident. He, the other guy is a professional driver and should know the law. I am not saying you are not but he works for a public passenger vehicle company and should know the law as he is fully qualified or supposed to be. He would have a PSV (Public Service Vehicle) licence and should know the rules regarding giving his details. Many people often don't give details because there maybe hardly any damage to their vehicle or like you they fear they will have to pay an excess on their insurance or they will loose their no claims bonus etc. You won't be claiming on your insurance so don't worry about your insurance side of it all. The claim will come off his companies insurance as he is at fault. Remember the camera's never lie!!!!!!!!!! And remember it was definitely his fault!! And remember you have witnesses too!!!

Sorry for 2 posts so close together but I wanted to answer your post (quoted at the top of this one) directly so it was not to confusing!!!

    Take care

Hello Levi. I hope you're both a little more settled now - what an awful situation.

If it was me, I'd call the insurers straight away. They have the experience and legal knowledge to sort this out and will deal with the bus company on your behalf. They may also be able to advise you what to do about the situation the driver provoked - I'm wondering if that should be a Police issue.

Don't worry about not exchanging details - the driver and others became aggressive towards you and it was best to remove yourself from the situation.

You can explain your financial situation if you're asked to pay for anything up front - insurers deal with things like this every day and won't raise an eyebrow.

You might find that the bus driver has a bit of history for crashing - it certainly would explain his extreme behaviour.

    Take care

thanks for all this fantastic info peeps, I will keep you updated on anything that happens with it. I did wonder about the police too given the 'verbal assault' but all the people left the scene pretty rapidly (when their next bus came 90 seconds later!!) Thanks Edwink for all the details that was extremely helpful.. my first step will be to contact TfL with my complaint, track down the actual bus and driver (no reg I'm afraid, I simply didn't think coherently enough to do anything useful :() and then see how they respond to what I say and any other info they may want

In jokes? This is not fair. What did you do for karma to tell you you have bad hair Levi? ;)

I have to be honest, I always ask my colleague if he has had his ears lowered, when he has a haircut... and when he says yes, there isn't a lot else I can say. He is mostly as bald as a boiled egg.. So I don't think I answer either. How can I say it suits him to have even less hair than usual? :rotfl:
