Hey Levi
Sorry to hear about the mechanic bill, how annoying that he's quoted wrong. As GreyFox mentioned any chance of a bit of overtime? Cars are the biggest pain in the *rse ever!
LL looks super cute in that pic, bless him sweeping up. Feel free to send him round to mine, dude has a thing about the dustpan and brush, maybe LL could sweep and Dude could collect it and put it in the bin. Tag team style.
LL trip sounds amazing, is it wrong that I'm more than a bit jealous. I love Seaworld. I made my parents go back 3 days in a row and apparently spent half the day watching the orca. I hope he enjoyed the 4th July celebrations.January 2015 - LBM

Oh no not the dreaded car repair blues. I remember that well. Do you absolutely have to have a car? We gave ours up last August, cant believe it will be a year next month. It has made day trips harder but we manage by all cycling, except that husband also has to buy a small amount of travel cards on ad hoc days.
We were told the transmission had gone in our car about 6 months after purchase, they wanted £2,500 to fix that. Oh and it had a really bad oil leak that we were quoted £900 to fix. In the end we scrapped it for £150.
I know not everyone can do as we have, we live in zone 2 in London, but if you have the option it may be an idea to consider it." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hey lovely, sorry to hear about those car repairs - I always used to get caught with a circle of MOT and insurance due together, I changed to paying monthly for the insurance (although it can be a bit more expensive overall at least you don't get one big payment when you can least afford it. And some companies will include some extras like breakdown insurance).
How about doing some comparison quotes for the insurance and make sure to use TCB too - then see if the monthly payment option will suit you even if you only do it this year.
Also perhaps get another quote from different garage for the repairs? More than one quote gives you a bit of reassurance that the price is fair!!

hey guys,
sorry for the outbreak of DRAMA LLAMA there. dunno why but the "miscalculation" and the results on my finances just really set me back as if it were the end of the world which reminds me that my mental health is always just one step away from unravelling if i'm not soo careful. scary thought but important to remember.
regarding the car - thanks so much for the help and suggestions on and off this thread, it really needn't be the end of the world which is how i felt yesterday, but in reality throws me about £300 off track which can be aided by paying for my car insurance monthly instead of in a lump which is something i hadn't considered. got quite a good quote today via confused.com from Tesco so will probably go for that, but have a couple of weeks for a bit more shopping around just in case.
i went to work yesterday but felt absolutely horrible so ended up leaving a bit early and stayed at home today. pathetic but essential i'm afraid, but i slept for 15 hours last night and woke up feeling a thousand times better. :T

Thanks Westie:)
There seems to be a theme for me (at least the past couple of years) that every few steps up I take, I soon enough get kicked back down them and a few more! That makes me lose hope and faith but I just gotta keep on going. Love ya xxxxx- on a mission to be debt-free by the end of 2017 -

Indeed you do, its not how long it takes to climb that mountain but the effort it takes to get there, which ever route you take as long as you make it, thats the key goal, not speed but efficiency :-)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards.
