    Howdee, happy 4th. ;)
Had a pretty busy day. Went with FGN to the nursing home where her 89-year old mum lives, which was having a little fete and a "fun dog show" to raise money for the nursing home. Beautiful weather so nice to bring all the residents outside, little bit of sunshine and breeze, had a potter around the stalls and FGN bought us a raffle ticket and coerced me into entering Ozzy in 3 of the categories "most handsome dog" and "waggiest tail" and "dog most like it's owner".
we didn't win anything but tbh I think the judge took an instant dislike to me for reasons I'll never know! she shouted at me when we first arrived because ozzy was off his lead and i think it went downhill from there, lol.
and rumour has it that she was awarding prizes to people she knew and she had done the same the year before. i sound bitter, :rotfl::rotfl:i'm not, honestly, it was only fun- just find it a bit ridiculous that someone wouldn't even play fair in that kind of thing. but ozzy got loads of attention anyway and everyone said he should have won ;):D especially the "dog most like owner"round as i was wearing american flag print shorts and oz was wearing his american flag print collar - and nobody else in the category had anything of the sort matchy-matchy... lol, imagine if i had a kid in paegants, i would be the WORST pushy parent imaginable :rotfl:
at one point during the afternoon i went and sat away from the masses under the shade of a tree right down the other end of the garden. a woman with a chihuahua came up and down a few times and eventually came over to me and asked why i was sitting so far away. i said my dog preferred it but after ten minutes or so of "ah your dog is cute, the dog show is rigged, blah blah" chat she just came out and asked if i had anxiety issues because that was the reason *she* was away from the crowd and said she had immediately thought so when she saw me (dunno if thats good or bad lol). i kinda said "yeah you blew my cover, i was trying to act like it's the dog who doesn't like all the people, but really it's me :)" so we carried on chatting and she told me all about her mental health issues, medication, I shared mine a bit and told her what I do in my job.. cut a long story short, she wanted to swap numbers and she said she found it creepy how she was drawn to talk to me and that we had so much in common and she was very easy to talk to and get along with.
(no btw before you all start, she was 47 and married lol).
it was pretty weird how much we had in common and how deep our conversation got, right off the bat, with a complete stranger. but it was nice. our dogs got on well too which was weird because he said hers hates everyone, but she said her dog also took to me instantly which it had and i said i get that a lot :A i told her my son desperately wants a chihuahua and I took a photo of it with ozzy to show him ozzy's new g/f :)

soo yeah ...the whole afternoon was pleasant (minus the female-hitler dog judge) and then FGN bought us some fried chicken which we ate round hers, i had a beer:beer: and after which i went home and fell asleep for the whole evening - something i have been doing a LOT lately. have only just woken up.

In brief money related news, I sold an item on eBay which had been relisted twice so I hadn't held out much hope. It was up for £15.50 and the person offered £10.00, so I counter offered £11.50 which they accepted - which meant the extra £1.50 can cover the eBay fee and the postage (I listed free p&P but it will take a couple of large stamps). i'll use the £10 for a b/d present for my mum in August, so every little deffo helps!

I will be talking to LL on Skype at 11pm right before he goes to his July 4th party. :T x x x x x

Sounds like you had a good day, I love those fetes with dog shows, although I don't have any westies to enter anymore.

Glad you had fun even with the ogre judge... (there is always one) hope LL had a good time at his 4th July party... Quietly jealous.

i've got the sunday night blues. :(

just had an email from the mechanic due to work on my car in a couple of weeks for lower suspension arm replacement- quote was for the pair, but turns out it was all muddled up and the price he gave me was for one. so its doubled the price. i have to have both done as it's not gonna pass the MOT without, but it will also be the same time as car insurance time (8 aug) so everything is big pile of !!!!! :(
i feel like i take 2 steps up and 3 down all the time and am a bit sick of it.

  • Oh that's rubbish, cars are soooo expensive!! And a shame the mechanic didn't get the quote right. Still, it's got to be done, and it's just bad luck that it's the same time as your insurance. You ARE making progress.. Think where you were 2 or 4 or 6 months ago. Small steps, but you'll get there. I have faith :D xxx

what we talking Levi, is it a couple of hundred extra? Look round your flat. Anything else you can put on Ebay? Can you put your car insurance on monthly installments instead of all in one go? Can you cycle to work instead of drive while LL is away? Have you got any gold you can weigh in? I had a few broken charms and 3 rings that didnt fit me and I got 140 quid a couple of years ago. I sound like Arthur Daley or Del Boy. Could you do a car boot sale with FGN? share the price of the table and pile it up with stuff.
Things are never as bad as they seem, everything will be alright, put the kettle on xxx:o

Is there any chance of some overtime while LL is away?

    Hello you

Don't stress too much, that certainly isn't going to help to pay the bills and will just make you poorly.

When are the repairs due? Can you put even tiny amounts away if it's a couple of months away? It will all help. Does it absolutely HAVE to be done or can it wait for a month or two longer?

    xx
