  • Levi, have you done a google to see in any compost companies are doing free samples? If not ask on freecycle for compost/topsoil....it's offered a fair bit on my local page. xxxxx :)

thanks greyfox - saw them today actually! (were we in the same one at the same time? did you see all the cool kids gardening stuff they had?)

Same one almost certainly! Same time? Don't think so! Yup - saw the kids stuff & thought of LL when I did!

couldn't find any mini seeds though... just giant..still on my quest. want mini ones for inside in a pot... don't have any compost either and seems a bit silly to buy a giant bag of it which is why the little kit seemed good.. found that on amazon .. but i think we will do it more cheaply.... i'll get there :) xx

Not sure that even the mini ones will grow indoors in a pot. They really are outdoor plants. The clue's in the name - sunflowers!

ETA You might get away with it if (a) you have a very sunny room & (b) a very big pot (30cm) + tray to stand it in. Read all about it here http://www.wikihow.com/Grow-a-Sunflower-in-a-Pot. On balance, better to grow in the garden if you can. The mini ones are cute but isn't half the fun for kids seeing just how tall they grow, in which case the standard ones are the ones to go for.

this thingy seems to let you have little ones in a pot

he would probably love a giant one more but our garden is shared and actually mainly shared with people who drop cigs and p1ss against the wall - i'd hate for him to get attached to it and then something bad happens to it.

edit: oh, it won't let me send that link but go to amazon and type in little gardeners mini sunflowers. xx

Have just checked here http://www.johnsons-seeds.com/Little-Gardeners_2/Little-Gardeners-Mini-Sunflowers.html Afraid they need to go outside, even in their pot. ("sunny patio")

I spend all day looking for money on the floor when walking Mr ;) and you're getting it all. Only fair I suppose :D

My big sister grew a sunflower on her kitchen windowsill until it got too big. Then she put it on the floor and the dog ate the soil :rotfl:

    P.s fitbits are awesome :D

crazy or what? two paper roadkills in a single week and none before in my whole life.. i have a weird theory on this bear with me! i have a wooden laughing Buddha which i have had for several years, my parents got me it from a holiday in Bali. the other day i was reading up about how best to position them in terms of feng shui and to optimise the effects of Buddah if you like. anyway for the first time in a long time i changed his position, pointed him toward a more recommended angle and made more of a ritual of the tummy stroking.. since last weekend.. he is adorned with coins, jewellery, charms, etc which I have gathered on it over the years but i cleaned everything up and have stroked his belly every day (recommended for fortune) and sprayed my most expensive aftershave on him a couple of times...aaaaannnnd this week on monday i find a tenner, on weds i get my ppi, and on thurs i find a fiver!

maybe i am losing the plot but hey! ;)

had an email from Transport for London/Arriva expressing concern at the verbal assault element of my incident and are looking into and also confirmed they have the confirmation that it was a non fault accident and have provided me details of their recommended body work repair shop or i can provide 3 quotes. i'll deal with all that after my trip. work was awful.. but i'm off now for a few days and plan to forget all about it.

having a small personal drama with a...friend... so confusing.. wish people were more straight forward...! there are people in my life that i can't seem to" get it right " with but they seem to always be the people i want to the most.. or try the hardest with.. maybe that in itself is a problem.. i have switched off my phone as we had been ping-ponging in our disagreement all day and it was tiring. x
