11 Days Without a Washing Machine

Then that landlord is an idiot who doesn't know how washer/dryers work, since all w/d condense the steam and drain it, since - of course - they all have drains. Separate dryers, otoh...If you end up catching up with 2 weeks of laundry that then needs to dry, I can only imagine the level of humidity in the place.
If somebody's got THAT much laundry to dry after a fortnight (how DO they cope on holiday...?) then it's going to be a fairly solid stream in normal use anyway. And we all know that some people are unable to comprehend proper ventilation and the effects of humidity.0 -
On holiday? I don't supply my own bedsheets or towels, handwash swimsuits so much less than normal life?
With kids and normal life, I only do 1 load a day, possibly 2 if kids have been unwell, nothing extraordinary. That would be a lot to catch up with after 2 weeks.0 -
My washing machine broke down last year when I had a 6 month old baby. It took at least a week and a half to get it looked and and then order and have delivered and installed a replacement.
I didn't even have a landlord or EA to blame - this was the normal lead time for it as a home owner.
Being without a washing machine is really not the end of the world, get a grip!
Last time my washer broke, I drove to the nearest asda ( could as easily have been tesco/currys/b and q) I bought a sub £200 washing machine and put it in the car, drove home and fitted it myself. All in the same day, plus I left the old machine outside for rag and bone fella.
If I hadn't had a car or internet I would have walked/bus to library, ordered online, you can mostly get next day delivery. If I could not fit it myself, although that really isn't difficult, I would have asked neighbor/friend/someone to fit and given them a tenner.
And I too own my own home ( well me and the bank.
) 63 mortgage payments to go.

I add this because unless you have a machine that's less than 2 years old and cost waaay more than £200 its just quicker buying new, no farthing about getting it looked at.63 mortgage payments to go.

My point was not that I couldn't have done it faster if I'd had to - more that even with a 6 month old baby the world did not collapse around me when I didn't have a machine for a week and a half.0 -
Assumption.ITYM you fly-tipped it on the pavement.
Might have been on the front lawn/drive etc
We recently refited my mum's bathroom, and left the old bath on the drive ready to take to the tip next day. It vanished overnght.
Far cheaper than paying the local council fee for 'large item removal'.0 -
get it done at the laudrettte or just hand wash."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

No, in the back garden. Nowt lasts long out here in the badlands. Rag and bone is around everyday cruising the streets. When I put new kitchen in this house the old cooker went in half an hour, and they hung around for a metal support thingy. Same when a really old and rusty water tank was changed to plastic.
The old warped bunk beds, well I never got the whole lot out before someone was asking for it and 'shudder' the mattresses.
Oh and an old computer table and the scabby/threadbare chair.
At the new house the old cooker and sink went overnight.
I tells ya people must think its treasure. I lob it out with the intention of if its not gone by morning I will take it up the tip. Twice I have had to take it to tip, in decades.63 mortgage payments to go.
