Please can someone clarify details of the new legal school leaving ages?
I've looked online but I think it has just confused me even more!!!
My partner had a child with his ex and the child was born in June 1998.
Please can someone tell me to what age does my partner need to pay CSA until? I believe, although I can't confirm, the child is allegedly at a college 3 days per week (I believe this classes at "full-time" education)
Any clarification would be gratefully received....:)

I think it is as long as child benefit is claimed0

Thank you to all that have replied so far.
However, if someone could elaborate on the details shown on the Citizen's Advice Bureau website I would be very grateful.
"Leaving school
In England a young person must continue in education or training until:
- from summer 2013, the end of the academic year in which they turn 17, and
- from summer 2015, until their 18th birthday.
- full-time education, such as school or college
- work-based learning, such as an apprenticeship
- part-time education or training if they're employed, self employed or volunteering for 20 hours or more a week.
Does that mean then that my partner's child born in 1998 left school at 16 in summer 2014, will only legally be required to stay in some form of education/training until they are 17? Very confused.......0 -
My son was born in 1998 and yes he only has to be in some kind of training until 17, so they will be the same.
However I would have though the CSA will like tax credits run alongside the child benefit, which can run to age 20 if the child is in non advanced education.

Seems like that would be the sensible thing, running alongside CB, otherwise the mother ends up supporting the child on her own until he/she has an income of their ownSealed pot challenge member #325

All the time the child stays in education which child benefit is payable for, Child Maintenance will be due. Your husband can contact the CSA and ask them to do a CB check if he thinks its not being claimed (not being claimed = CSA case closed)0

BTW my son is also at collage doing a BTEC and does 2 full days, and 2 short days and is still classed as "full time". So no reason to suppose the child mentioned in the OP isn't classed as full time.
