Well the tracking number shows as invalid and I have receipt to prove it was accepted and weight and date etc, Ebay just say since I "sent" item its up to me to get it back to seller even though they were the ones who gave me the returns label/tracking.
Is this right? I know if I paid for it myself this would be the case but since they organised a label are they not liable?

HOW was it sent?0

As in packaging or delivery method? Was sent in original packaging with brown tape over where I opened it(I am careful as reuise envelopes anyway) then taken to a post office, scanned and given a receipt with time and date and tracking number.0

And was it to go Royal Mail or Parcelforce?
Have you tried the tracking reference on both companies' websites?0 -
Regular Royal Mail and both websites say its invalid.0

So contact your Post Office and ask them? (It was them that gave you the tracking number, yes?)
Is it a printing error? Or you're misreading a digit/letter? (5 S, 8 B, 1 I, 0 O, etc.)0 -
No it was Ebay themselves that gave me a prepaid label with a tracking number on it, then it was scanned and a receipt had the same tracking number.
Royal Mail say I cant do anything as I am not the sender but they say the tracking number isnt valid(not that its valid and gone missing)0 -
When we had a buyer use this the service was late and the tracking didn't update until the morning it was out for delivery (just said it was "invalid" which it clearly wasn't).
How long ago did you post the parcel?
Assuming your seller is a business they are liable for refunding you as you've got proof you sent the goods, eBay is liable for claiming from Royal Mail, they should then refund the seller.
eBay being eBay they just blame everyone else and say it's not their problem. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Its been 16 days since I sent it0

Royal Mail say I cant do anything as I am not the sender...
Either the sender or the intended recipient can claim for a package that has gone missing.
There is even a box at the top of their claim form to indicate which you are:0 -

OK it sounds like should have arrived by now. You could try getting eBay's attention on Twitter or Facebook, are you able to have eBay call you via their contact us pages?
If you get someone in the UK/Ireland they may be more helpful but you need to stress the responsibility of the parcel is eBay's.
How much was the order? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
