advice...poss missold a tablet

Options
Hi...i went to my local carphone warehouse who are normally pretty good, i wanted a tablet. I wanted a Samsung but after going through the options i was told how wonderful the new Huawei mediapad was and at a great price. There were no demo models available so we looked at a youtube clip. Seemed ok to me...was told it was perfect for what i needed it for. I went home and looked at the reviews and clips and, yes, seemed ok. Went back and ordered it and went through contract with EE etc.
No mention of cooling off periods. When i collected it and started on it within an hour i realised i dont like it..its cheap...the quality is very poor especially the camera and video footage which i said was what i wanted it for..to browse net and watch video clips.
Now i dont know what to do...stuck in a contract with this rubbish tablet that i think i was mis sold.
What can i do..,ive had it an hour!
thanks
Sarah

I don't think you can say it was mis-sold.

You did your research and decided that was the right purchase.
Mis-bought is possibly a more appropriate term.

Anyway, as you bought in a shop, you have no statutory right to a refund. You are totally reliant on any returns policy that the seller may have offered.

I'll leave someone else to comment on the associated airtime contract, but you might like to leave that in place and use it with your replacement tablet whatever that may be.

Assuming you purchased with an airtime contract you have 14 days cooling off period during which you can return the tablet and cancel the contract without penalty.

These terms fall under the Consumer Credit Act of 1974
  • True i maybe wasn't mis sold...but certainly pushed towards a product. The annoying thing was there was no demo to look at. I dont think i do have a cooling off period..

You could see if they will swap the tablet, but if its tied to contract they may not, if they wont, then stick it on ebay or a local facebook selling group and use the cash to get a tablet you want
  • I think this is my only option. Im just annoyed that after just an hour its not what i wanted and now i can't change it. i dont feel i should be stuck with it.
There must be some consumer right if youre not happy with a product.

No, as Collabora say, there is no statutory right to cancel or return, and EE don't have a "I don't like it" return policy if bought in store.

Why? If you sold something through the newspaper, or on one of those "For Sale In....." facebook pages, then the person came back later and said "I don't like this anymore", would you be happy to refund them no questions asked?
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
