Mis-sold car insurance policy?
Options
Hi I took out a car insurance policy with Esure yesterday. I wanted a policy where I could add my daughter for discrete periods of time. I got a quote on line and then called Esure to make sure I could add her on a temporary basis (This was the only reason I called them otherwise I would have completed on line). They told me I could but they couldn't say if this would be for a month at a time, 2 weeks, 3 weeks etc, until I had taken out the policy. On that basis I went ahead and bought the policy. When I then tried to obtain temporary cover for her I was told the underwriter wasn't accepting it (she is a new driver and I had made this clear at the start of the conversation - several times). When I tried to cancel the policy today I was told I would still need to pay their £30 cancellation fee and possibly an underwriting charge. Has anyone else experienced this - and if so, what did you do?
Thanks
Thanks

The cancellation fee will be set out in the policy ts + Cs.
As far as being mis-sold you can complain about this using their formal complaints procedure which will be set out in the policy docs.
If you are unhappy with their reply (or they ignore you for 8 weeks) you can esdalate to the FOS at no cost to you for their adjudication.0 -
Can you not cancel within the cooling off period with no penalty apart from the cost of the insurance used?
Maybe not!

Pay it and then put in a complaint.
Dont get in a strop and refuse to pay because it will end up worse for you. Plenty of threads where people think well im not going to pay and then the thread starts with the new insurer have cancelled cover or want more money because teh no claims is still in use on the other policy or the old insurer cancelled the policy for non payment.
Pay then complain.... If you win you may get your money back. If not you only paid what they said you owe. No debt collectors and ruined insurance / credit.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
