I'm surprised as well. There have been threads on here from parents who have become the 'parent with care' but have been unable to get CB because the other parent refuses to give it up.

That's what makes this so odd confused-24.gif

It could be a clerical error, and hopefully they will realise this sooner rather than later.

On another more serious note, could someone (not necessarily anyone you know) have got hold of your personal data and tried to claim so that they could pocket the money? You might not even realise that it had happened.

After all, people get fraudulent purchases made from their bank card, this happened to me twice, and the security of CB is possibly not as tight as that which the banks use.

My daughter had a phone contract fraudulently taken out in her name a couple of years ago, they had her date of birth and all her details, it was proven to be fraud.

Also, it was only a few years ago that personal data was leaked via the Child Benefits agency of several million parents, so presumably it is possible that somehow someone has got hold of your details and tried to make a claim, thankfully the CB agency have picked up on it.

They probably are suggesting that it might be a family member or friend so as to rule it out, as that may be their first line of enquiry.

I don't understand why your money has been stopped, though, presumably they already have the correct bank details which you would be able to verify, and will have been paying it to you for the last 4 years already with no problems.
That ought not to affect any payments whilst they investigate this other claim.

Hopefully the letter from the nursery confirming your details will clear it up, but I would keep on pestering, why should you have to wait for money that you have already proven entitlement to?

Best of luck, and I hope it gets sorted out quickly.
Making time for me now. Out with old habits and ideas, and open to change......:j
