Hotels with guaranteed sunbeds

  • It's also more of a problem in the peak season, as families want 4 or 5 sunbeds together, and are prepared to get up early to ensure this. Also, some people just want the same sunbeds all holiday and come to think of them as "theirs" for the duration. I've seen people creeping down to the pool at 7am, and it's often beat 'em or join 'em! There was a hotel in Ibiza this year where people were leaving their towels on the beds 24 hours a day until the staff put a stop to it, after weeks of complaints. Hotels are very reluctant to confront people, especially the regulars!
  • big problem is a lot of these a/I hotels were beach hotels and were not designed to have 90% of their guests staying in the hotel all day rather than heading off to the beach, many of them just don't have the room to accommodate the quantity of sunbeds needed and unless you are willing to join the 8.00 am stampede [we don't even make breakfast so no chance!!lol] youwill be out of luck. I was next door to the hotel in Ibiza [Miami] last year and there were nearly riots over the 24 hr bed reserving but it has been stopped now as they have added extra terracing,we went to the beach most days as it was only 100 yards from the hotel and I used to pop back for drinks etc, manager challenged me one day as I was leaving hotel with tray of drinks and snacks, passed him the tray and said find me 4 sunbeds and I will go and get my family from the beach,he passed it back and wished me a good day!!

WOW, really? I have never stayed in a hotel which hasn't had enough beds, or where you need to reserve them.

I'm thinking "wow" too. I had no idea that some people went to such lengths to get a sun bed. I'm not one for laying in the sun and can only remember trying it a couple of times in hotels before getting bored within a few minutes. If I ever find myself with a "guaranteed" sun bed then someone else would be perfectly welcome to use it.

So am I; we go AI for a week most years (Canaries / Egypt), never been anywhere more than half full, and often far less. One time in Egypt we had an entire pool to ourselves for 4 days, there were 7 pools in total and we found one tucked away that nobody seemed to notice :D
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
  • When we stayed in Meeru, Maldives, each room had 2 sun loungers with the room number stamped on.
The room boy would move them to the beach or where ever you wanted.

These days, where ever we stay, we just go to the beach. Pay for loungers.
  • You could try looking for hotels that have 'swim up' rooms. You'll pay a bit more for them, but will get sun beds on your own terrace.
  • I usually just read reviews on tripadvisor. If there are problems with not enough loungers someone is sure to mention it in the reviews.

Of perhaps once you have a specific destination in mind select the forum for that destination and ask a question about which hotels have plenty of loungers, or name some hotels and ask if anyone who has stayed there knows.

It doesn't seem to happen as much in USA in our experience. Only exception to that is a hotel in Vegas (Desert Rose) which had limited sunloungers and a lot of British guests who left towels on them. I object to the hogging as otherwise there would often be enough. In general it doesn't seem to happen in USA as much though, although that doesn't help with your query as you want All Inclusive and there's not much of that over there.

Sensatori Sharm El Sheikh get a swim up room and you have your own lounger on the balcony before your swim up pool.
