Morning all,
slept soundly last night and woke up this morning to a blanket of ice outside. I hope it melts pretty damned quick cause I'm going to see Mom this morning via the doctors surgery. Ive got a blood test form to pick up and its down a big steep hill.
Nothing to do in the house today, even the carpets look relatively hair free. I might just leave them for today.... just as well, i'll probably be knackered by the time ive walked back from seeing Mom.
I too have 'power naps' sometimes in the day. Always at my PC though. I sleep on my tummy anyway and when I feel too tired to read when I'm on my pc I fold my arms in front of me and learn forward and sleep. Don't think I have long, maybe 20 minutes or so but it sets me up for the rest of the day.:o
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning, what a change in the weather, bright sunshine, although we have had a frost.
OH has just gone for his X ray, the hospital is a cottage hospital type and just 5 minutes down the raod, so he has walked.
Not enough laundry in the basket to do a wash, shame, it would be nice to have it on the whirly to dry, the electric was up 10 units last week thanks to having to use the dryer.
I bought some daffs at Tesco on Sunday, thought they were duds, its taken them 2 days to open even in a warm room, one or two have just started to come out. They were £1 but a pound is a pound, it was an indulgence for me on our tight budget.
I did not sleep well on Sunday night, found myself drifting off to sleep after supper, I often have a 'nana nap' in the afternoon when OH has his siesta.
Lazy supper tonight, chicken kiev's and salad, we will finish off the plum crumble I made on Sunday, back to bananas tomorrow.0 -
Morning all! Back from a lovely weekend away, quite chilled, although DH decided to do a load of work, and I started a stinking cold as well as a visit from Aunt Flo. Came home to a freezing house as boiler hadn't come on properly, just about warmed up now.
Have hoovered downstairs and working my way through the washing mountain. DS13 and I will go out to supermarket later, DS16 is popping to GPs then volunteering at the library. Bacon sarnies for lunch, fish fingers and mash followed by pancakes for tea. DH is in London with Cubs.0 -
Morning All
Glad you to hear you have nicked our sunshine, though you may keep the frostVery windy with horrendous thunderstorms were forecast overnight, however, while quite windy, the rain has not materialised, yet!! Hopefully it will not. To be honest the sun is trying to peep through, but the wind has knocked the top off the temperatures.
Doing bits of jobs inside today, just sorted all the wires behind the TV and labelled some. Will have a little lunch soon. Need to do some Community paperwork, ready for the annual meeting in March. I was hoping to retire from the Presidents job, but it doesn't look like I can, never mind it is not a lot of work. Someone is doing some building work, which we could do without the noise of, but hey ho, we have done some in the past.
Nothing much to report, so will leave you with (((hugs))), spoons, and positive vibes all round. Well done on the weight loss Dumpling, and enjoy your days catch up with your friend. Take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Frosty this morning but the sun has come out and we have blue sky which has cheered me up so much :j

I am so sorry to hear about your friend.

Happy Birthday to your DH and many more. :bdaycake::bdaycake:
Two cakes as one is for JackieO's anniversary.
Had a quiet morning as DD has gone out to volunteer at CS and has taken a bag of books etc off with her.
Wrapped some more presents for DD next week as her sisters have been sending home things to wrap as well. At one time I would have searched everywhere for wrapping paper, tape and labels, got stressed and cross and dashed out to but more.
This morning I just went to the ottoman in the bedroom which has a hessian bag in it with paper, tape, labels etc so no hassle.
Have had a pack of 100 tealights on the kitchen table for days as I now use aromatherapy for DH downstairs as well as in the bedroom and it has been annoying me. Put a third of them into the clear makeup bag in our bedroom to join those already there and then the rest went into two clear plastic food containers and got stored next to matches and candles in kitchen drawer.
Must tackle downstairs cloakroom tiled floor as previous owners did not seal the tiles and it is impossible to clean as they have little holes in them which hold any dust etc. Decided to try washing with floor cleaning solution, leaving suds on floor then working it in with a stiff brush, leaving for a while then mopping and rinsing several times.
Can't hoover downstairs as DH has just settled in armchair and closed his eyes so don't want to disturb him.
Planning sausages with gravy and potato and turnip mash tonight unless DH fancies a calorific pie (determined to get his weight up.)
Middle DD is popping in tonight for pancakes as a dessert and want to have the place looking a bit more respectable before she arrives.
Took up most of yesterday getting my hair done and taking DD to cinema but feel better for it.

Happy pancake day
Lovely day compared to yesterday when it rained all day
DH bless him rushed home from work to take me to physio, so I didn't have to get drenched on the scooter
I managed to get some washing out on the line this morning, not very dry when I went out to check it an hour ago though.
This morning I made DH a creme caramel because he loves it, plus some cheese straws, a banana cake and a weetabix cake, because I had some black bananas and some weetabix that needed to be used up, So the family are set for snacks for a few days............maybe, but knowing my gannets I will be lucky if there is anything left for tomorrow
DD and her BF are teaching a half term art course today for young children. No pay but it is part of a course that will enable them to actually teach art in schools.
Well done on the weight loss dumpling:T
Sorry to hear about your friend Marie, I hope that the funeral goes well today xxx

Do you or your brother have POA for your Mum?
If not and it is too late for this due to her state of mind could Age Concern help with appointing someone to look after her welfare as an impartial body with her best interests in mind."This site is addictive!"

Elona thank you for your good wishes, he is having a quiet but enjoyable day I think, and I have just made the batter for the pancakes, he likes his with golden syrup,
Judi, Oh dear is life going to become even more difficult for you, that is a good suggestion from Elona, at least they would be able to give you some advice. Hugs to you

We are lucky bunnies today, two days ago a demolition firm started to take the roof off a bungalow across the road prior to the builder adding an upper storey. Today they started taking out the roof timbers so we asked if we could have the wood.....they said YES!!! We moved the whole of it at lunchtime and now have an amazing pile of wooden timbers on the front lawn and He Who Knows is de-nailing it and chopping it up with the chop saw. At least three months worth of free firewood and we have enough room for it in the woodstore and it will also generate at least a years worth of kindling too from the smaller struts. Just goes to show if you ask and they say no you're no worse off than if you hadn't asked BUT if you ask and they say yes...wow, free warmth can only be good yes??? Told you I'd still got muscles that work well....and I can feel each and every one of them now!!!0

Afternoon all
We got back from DD's just after lunch today, hubby's finished decorating one of her bedrooms & I helped with the twins & made cakes with DGD,
I'm now going to have a nana nap & then look online for some fabric to make cushions for the chair in DD's conservatory.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
