mobile phones direct

hi,

i just wondered if any one has used mobilephonesdirect.co.uk? i only ask as i have never used a third party before to buy a phone. I just wondered how trustworthy they are in regards to the tariffs they offer? i spoke to a woman at EE and she reckoned the EE tariffs they were offering weren't valid, but surely they couldn't get away with offering something invalid or that doesn't exist?

any feedback welcome.

cheers

depends what phone you are after, if EE say their tariffs are invalid then why consider using them. look at http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/

I used them last year to get a great deal with Vodafone with no problems.

The major plus for me was not having all the operator bloatware that would come from going directly.

Had a cashback deal with them until Feb that was fine and paid out on time.

Just be aware that like many 3rd party suppliers, they can demand repayment if you end a cashback contract early - there's a few threads on MSE that bear this out.

I'd say this is rather a peculiarity than a norm, although there are 1-2 other 'sister' companies with the same T&C.

And EE are so trustworthy and honest. Of course the tariffs are valid; print out what you ordered and agreed to at the point of sale and you can prove it should you end up with something different - which would be highly unusual but has been known.

I would beware using a cashback contract with this group of companies; there are safer rivals.

You are hardly going to get EE admitting that a 3rd party supplier can undercut their own direct pricing...

You are hardly going to get EE denying this in writing or for the record either.

I've used Mobile Phones Direct over the last 12 months for my own, my missus, sister and helped about 5 colleagues at work take out contracts with them. Surprisingly all on EE too, nothing to complain about! Quick delivery and tidy website to use. Plus their EE deals (i.e. data allowances, handset costs) are MUCH more reasonable than going to EE direct or even Carphone Warehouse.
