Bad experience with opening Nationwide FlexDirect account

  • Seems from others experiences the 2 customer numbers is indeed not unique to myself.
    Apology accepted Colsten :)

It might not be unique as I had this when I opened my account a while back, and no one knew why until I got a customer advisor who knew about how the system actually works.

I was told it is something to do with the two systems that Nationwide now use, sometimes information doesn't transfer from one system to the other automatically as it should.

Someone then manually transfers it to the other system which then for unknown reasons creates two log in ID's for internet banking. The first log in ID is then cancelled by the second one that is created. This is then the one you need to use as your internet banking ID.

I was give £75 for the inconvenience, I didn't ask for this and wasn't looking for any compensation as it hadn't caused me any inconvenience.

If you really wanted the Nationwide account you would have stuck with it and let them sort it out!!

OH was given two customer numbers in the opening process. Whether it's to do with opening online, I don't know.

We are in the process of switching from HSBC and I've probably rung Nationwide most days with a query. Very pleasant each time, but occasionally conflicting information.

I am in the process of opening this account and could not register nor log in. When I rang customer services I was informed that my customer number was incorrect? I was also informed that I had registered a few says earlier? I was given a second customer number and am now waiting for a card reader. The advisor said it looked like someone at their end had registered me and issued a new number? The account details were the same.

Not a bad experience but a bit of an inconvenience. I switched my HSBC to another provider and I only had to type different web address and pass code and everything was there as if by magic :money:
