ESA back payments for assessment decision period?

Whichever way you look at it, the first 13 weeks of the claim period are paid at assessment rate only (TI is the only exception I know to that). It doesn't matter whether the claim is backdated or not. A backdated claim isn't paid 'up-front', the period from the date of claim to the most recent paydate would be paid, assuming medical evidence was provided.
If the assessment is passed after a longer period than 13 weeks the additional component will be backdated to claim date +13 weeks.0 -
