Hope everyone has had a good start to March. Beware the ides... I'm on the lookout but I've got no idea what they look like.
What a powerful start to the month it has been:- over on the Save £12K thread, I have just shared the happy news that my £24K debt is now 'only' £18.9K after a year, and 45 weeks to go instead of 46 as I managed to reduce my term by a month with over-payments! This is a month with 3 business trips, so might not be able to manage the same this month. Be good if I could. Just checked the over-payment calculator and it may be because it's too soon in the month, but I would actually need to double the payment this month to reduce the term by any more, whereas I only needed to overpay by 1/3 this month. Can't stretch to double, no matter what.
- Yesterday, OH gave in his notice. We can now work on his mental recovery from that toxic place!
[/STRIKE] Is back! Looks like it is restored to factory settings too, so I shall be picky about which apps I install now. And the repair has another 6 months' warranty.- I have faced down temptation several times this week and haven't folded. No cash on me, can't buy snacks. Lost that tricksy 1lb on SW. Back in the game!
- Sad news about a local pub closing down who did a brilliant Sunday roast. But I got my unspent Groupon for it refunded.
- Managed to walk home last night from the train station.
It's not really comedy, I didn't laugh once, it's certainly not comfortable, but it is thought-provoking.
Got to adjust my grocery spend - £7.55 so far. Trying to be as conservative as possible without OH really noticing. For example, tonight is going to be Kung-Po pork, using half an open bottle of sauce, and a single gammon steak in strips with lots of veg, maybe some egg to add protein. The eggs are YS too.Keep reading books!

Well, the stir fry went down really well yesterday, so yes - gammon does work. I served it with some leftover rice from lunch, not much, charcoal noodles (bought on a whim, good for the digestion and 'cleaning you out' apparently! :rotfl:) and a poached egg. Yep! Many nom nom noms and a big thumbs up, even if does sound weird.
OH ate the rest of his corned beef as a snack though. It was meant to be his lunch today. As he had it for lunch and a snack his protests of "I can't eat it for more than three days" did ring a little hollow... but I know all about food boredom. I was trying to mix it up with cherry tomatoes one day, beetroot chutney the next, but, yeah, I know. I've just been trying to eat stuff that is SW friendly, but there's variety there. Today I have a dahl made with the cooked and frozen yellow split peas I bought for the £1 a day challenge I did last time.
So, I boiled some eggs for his lunch today... only for him to say he couldn't face going to work. He had a bad day yesterday. He doesn't understand why. Of course, he's not going to get paid today. He is going to use it to research the new business, but... worrying.Keep reading books!

So, I survived my business trip..and we also made a purchase of half-price stock (from a retail shop) to re-sell. Not ideal... we could possibly do better wholesale, but the opportunity was there and we decided to take advantage.
Have checked resale prices and in most cases it's a small profit, but we may be able to make more on some of the stock. Anyway... it may have made me sick to spend so much money on what is effectively a gamble, but we are on our way.
What should have been the first step would have been for OH to call HMRC and get started on his set-up. He still has a lot to do.
I also ended up buying a jacket as my 'best' jacket was all I took with me and I am ashamed to say was way too tight.Only £20, but not planned.
Grocery is doing a bit better though.

Hello wishus,
I'm so sorry to hear the news about your Dad and I wish him a speedy recovery and you all the strength to help you through this difficult time.
Well done on OH resigning. How lovely that he can now start to purge the toxic effects. I wish him well in his new venture.
You sound like you're doing so well. Knocking a whole month off the loan was great to read.
Take care. MTx0
