PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. Help needed from forum Mods

I have an extensive post which both I and others refer to regularly. It is in a thread that was last added to just over 2 years ago.

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=52421475&postcount=6

The thread has been closed.

However, I regularly update the post (last edited 26/1/15) and it is regularly referenced by forumites.

The 'edit' button has been removed and I am now unable to keep it up-to-date.

Can the thread be re-opened, or my post (6) have the edit button reinstated?

I have considered copy/pasting that post into a newly created thread, but both I and other regular posters use links to the existing thread.

I have tried various contact methods to yourselves without success or response (other than automated).

Thanks.

Another user also lending their support to GM's post - please reinstate so they can edit as necessary.
  • Better still, give G_M access to a sub-section of this board where he can upload and maintain in one place the very many valuable posts he makes for the benefit of regular and new users alike.

G_M is singularly the most productive and informative contributor here and is universally respected for the advice he provides and the time he invests in helping us all with property problems. As a beneficiary, I think it is the least 'we' can do.

    Thank you.

Amen. It constantly amazes me just how helpful and patient G M is.
  • Hi there,

I've opened the thread for you. Not sure why it was closed but it was probably due to the fact that it hadn't been posted on in a long time. Maybe update it occasionally?

    Thanks :)

Also want to take this opportunity to thank G_M for all the hard work effort he/she has put in this forum. I joined this forum not long ago and have gained a wealth of knowledge, majority of it by G_M's threads/posts.

    Thank you G_M :)

As G_M points out, and the thread itself confirms, it was last updated on 26th January this year - hardly a long time considering you are happy to leave some posts open with no activity for several years. Lack of consistency is one of MSE's more annoying traits.

Personally I believe this, and some other regularly quoted threads, should be stickys, because they can be difficult to find when you need them. Or you could unlock the House Buying: Important Threads post so that they could be added there.
  • Maybe G_M needs to be made a mod on this board?

Although I did indeed last update my post in that thread on 26/1/15, the last new post added to the thread (32) was 7/2/13 (by artful).

I assume it is the thread that is closed after 2 years, not the post (though by definition, posts within a closed thread... oh god I'm losing the will to typeaaaghh!
