Agreed an offer price...Now no contact from buyer!!

I sold an item on Ebay via an offer on Saturday. Since then I have emailed the buyer twice about collecting and paying for the item.

What is the procedure with ebay if someone doesn't respond and you want to relist?

Do ebay still expect their fee even though it didn't sell?

TBH it is worth about £70 more than they offered so I am quite happy to relist

I would not panic just yet. They may just be up the wall weekend , work, etc. Why not give them until mid week and then if you have not heard anything just relist it.

TBH is sounds as though if they don't go ahead you will make more in the long run away.
Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A
  • I did message them to say if I do not here from them by tonight I will relist.

How do I ensure ebay do not charge me by thinking it is sold?

If they accepted the revised offer then ebay will charge the FVF for selling it. If they dont pay after 4 days open a non payment claim through ebay

you cannot just relist a sold item, eBay charge fees at point of sale so if you don't want to pay that then you need to get the sale cancelled. Also until sale is cancelled buyer can pay and expect their goods and leave feedback.

To cancel the sale the OP needs to do a full NPB , however it is a bit early yet, also as OP indicates this is a collection item then opening an NPB forces the buyer to pay using PayPal which is a bad idea of course.

OP, I'd get the buyers phone number and give them a call in a day or so.

OP, it sounds like you are new to eBay selling, can I suggest please that you read the two sticky threads, one on postage that covers the risks of PayPal on collection, and more importantly the one that covers the risks of collection only items.

  • Thanks I will give the sticky a read. I don't know how I would be able to get the phone number of the buyer as they have not responded at all.
I will let you know how I get on and will not relist it until ebay cancels the sale, if the buyer resurfaces that's fine too.
I just wanted the item gone whilst i'm off work this week

You can request details of your buyer here,
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ebayadvsearch?_sofindtype=9
  • I rang the buyer who said 4 of his relatives use the account and would find out which one bought it. He then called to say person didn't want it and wanted to cancel the order. I have let ebay know that the buyer hasn't paid and wants to cancel and they are waiting for him to verify it.

As you have gone for a mutual you do need to be careful. Until buyer agrees to cancel, or after 8 days whichever is sooner, the sale is still 'live' and buyer can pay and expect their item.

Hmm! As my Father would say, "and the band played, believe it if you like"
