Bank Statement Question

Hi,

My current account, with Lloyds Bank, allows me to view statements online back until July 2002. I have never had paper statements so do not have any record of transactions prior to July 2002. If I were to need info from before July 2002, which I do, would my bank still have this info as I have always been with them?

Anyone who has been in this position and may know the answer to this, please let me know!

Thanks in advance,

Jessica Caroline

they might, but may well charge you. You will need to ask them. I don't believe the bank has any obligation to keep your data for that long.
Do remember there is nothing stopping you making a copy of your online statements (download pdf file?) and storing them electronically for as long as you want.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

Best thing to do is ask, but it is probably unlikely.

My bank only shows statements for last 13 months so showing 13 years is a massive difference.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

That may bee the case jimjames but that doesn't help with my dilemma. On whether I can view longer back as I need to find a specific transaction from years ago!

Not only is a bank not required to keep the data for 13 years but it seems that it is forbidden to do so.

Ask the Bank... Only they will know the answer for certain. Most unlikely they will but you can ask the question.

    Hi Jesc.

Our PhoneBank team can request a copy statement from between the period 1 September 2001 and 30 June 2002 however, no statements are available before 1 September 2001, as records do not go back that far.

    Thanks

    hi James,

Thanks so much ch for your response. This information is much appreciated.

Those dates are what I am looking for as I have a transaction which I am trying to trace which I believe would be great n that time span.

Could I go into a LLOYDS Bank branch to retrieve this or can I only do it on the phone?

    Thanks again
