Hey I'm thinking about getting an Android TV Box as I heard they are quite good for sports and movies however please could someone advise me on here if they are worth getting?
I really hate slow streaming and buffering and this puts me off! Would be good to hear feedback of anyone that has one?

Hi there, I have no idea what the best make even is? What's the quality like on yours?
I have Sky Broadband does that mean all the sites I stream will be blocked via my wifi?
I want to use for sports and movies etc.0 -

The quality depends on the stream. Ice films has HD streams. And I find them more then good enough to watch on a 42" TV. They also have movies but as I don't use it for that I can't comment on the quality. I've no idea what a decent Android box would be either. I use a Revo HTPC. I'm sure you'd get better answers about that in the tech forum.
I've no idea about the sports as I don't watch sports.
Yes they're blocked by Sky so you'd need a VPN.Sigless0 -

How do I set up a VPN?
On an android TV box it's as simple as downloading an app. But they're not free.
I use ark on my iPad and it cost me £1.50 a month. I imagine there's similar on the play store. I can't recall of top of my head what one I use on the HTPC.
Edit. I'm sure there are some free ones. But again, you're probably best asking in the tech forum.Sigless0 -

Tunnelbear is decent. And cheap. It's recently gone up but only by 50p to £2.49 per month.
I know onavo do a free one for iOS. Maybe it's available for android too? I've used it in the passed with no issues.
I'm currently using ark for £1.49 a month for unlimited and that's working fine too.Sigless0 -

This is nothing to do with the android sticks, it's just streaming video. So if iPlayer, Youtube take ages to load, buffer lots and are low quality, then these streams will be too.
Plus for the sticks you have to take on board the quality of the processor, WiFi signal, VPN if you're using one and of course the site providing the stream.
With all that, the first link in your chain, your broadband speed, would want to be 8Mb - but that's just my opinion. Someone will say 4Mb is fine, and someone else will want at least 12Mb.0
