What ever you do do not cancel your bt contract, as that will invoke the £30 charge. Ring them and get your MAC, proved it to the new isp.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Work out how much it will cost to keep paying every month, and then call BT and find out how much it will cost to cancel.

The best option then is the one which will cost you (or your nan) the least money.

I decided to look up the cancellation charges and as you know BT make it as complicated as possible to find out their charges but after "drilling" down the various tariff charts, I have managed to find out that it would cost £20.70 per month to cancel the BB for months left on the contract PLUS a £30 "cease" to the service for as they call it "their costs", rubbish as usual, and approx. £9 per month for the phone service for the months remaining of the contract. The only cost you may get out of is the £30 cease cost if you are moving to another area where BT cannot supply you with the service !! As we are not moving or going with another company for a few months, this would not apply so all charges would in effect have to be paid.

    Robbing b*********s !!

It would appear it would cost me more to cancel for a few months rather than to leave the contract running.

I am considering just cancelling the lot and going with another company, BT are such thieving dogs !

The charges are not hidden and are easy to find at https://www.bt.com/termcharges

If you enter into a contract with BT and you cancel early then you have to pay a charge. This is the same with any company not just BT.

Oscar_24 it will be best to leave the broadband until the end of the minimum term as a cancellation charge will apply and also a charge for the BT Home Hub.

Once the minimum term ends 30 days notice is required and also £30 will be charged if the service is ceased.
