I was stopped because I left a deoderant in my bag, didn't think it was a liquid but do now. Than I had the other checks. Random check with the belt.
I've also been stopped at ferry ports a couple of times and had to walk through metal dectator, and get bag scanned, they got worried as I had something metal in it, so I showed them it was my camera! This was as a car passenger. Also shown back of vehicle and as it was comfy was asked do you sleep in it? Nope! It's for the dogs that are not with us, this was going OVER at Dover side. And oh got stopped coming off ferry at Pembroke Dock and had to go into metal shed, give passports and ID etc, and got questioned, no biggy.
It's just one of them things! The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
I'm a middle aged white male and they pull me aside EVERY time, without fail.
I think they are knee-arthroplasty-ist.(Nearly) dunroving0 -
I usually get pulled over as well.
I think that its because of my devastatingly good looks and because everyone wants to be my friend.0 -
An important issue with regard to printing off your boarding passes -
If you have pre-booked your seats you can check in online up to 30 days before travelling and print of your boarding passes. This is fine for most travellers who go away for a week or so.
If you go for the cheaper non-booked option like we do then you can only check in and print them out 7 days prior to travelling.
This means that if you go away for a week or longer then you will have to check in online and print out your return boarding passes while you are away from home. If your hotel/apartment has internet and printing facilities this is not a problem. If internet access is an issue then you need to establish a means of printing your passes or, as mentioned in other posts, getting your boarding passes on your smartphone.
The 7 day rule can be quite restrictive because if you are away for a week then you can't print out your boarding passes at home unless, for example, you depart from the UK in the late afternoon but your return flight is early morning - i.e. less than 7 days (say 6 days 15 hours)
Yes, it can be confusing but this requirement has caused quite a lot of grief for passengers since it was introduced last year.
Aside from that, another tip is that the food and drink on the aircraft can be expensive. We tend to buy a Boots meal deal at the airport once we are through security (not before) and get a sandwich, snack and drink to consume on the plane.
Have a good holiday.
On my recent flights with Easyjet I have been able to print both my outward and return boarding passes before leaving the UK and up to a month before going. I haven't paid extra for choice of seats at all. Has this changed since last September?
BA only seems to allow the printing of boarding passes up to 24 hours in advance. As far as I can see, there isn't any advantage if I pay to choose my seat. I would still have to wait until the day before. I will download the app to my phone/iPod but prefer to have printed copies too. I really prefer to have printouts before leaving for the airport.0 -

Neil49's comments related to Ryanair, as the OP stated they were flying Ryanair. The 7 day rule mentioned does apply on Ryanair if you haven't paid for seats.
Regarding BA, the benefit of paying to choose your seat in advance is to secure your choice of seat, not to get the boarding pass. With BA there is no need to print boarding passes as well as using the mobile version on the app (where available), since you can reprint for free at the airport, but I can understand that some people feel more secure doing this in advance.0 -

I was going to download the Ryanair app for the boarding pass for android, but by all reviews it does not even work. I'm sticking with printing it at the library.Owed out = lots. :cool:0
