the kitchen would have to be designed around the space you have, this takes time with designers. yes a salesman may just turn up and spend 25 to 30 minutes doing a rough design, but then this is passed to their design team who will do a proper professional design. How much do you think this process costs? a 10% deposit fee of £800 will not cover the full cost of this process, then do you think their suppliers will give them the cabinets etc. for free, They will also need to pay a deposit to their suppliers
  • Just searched emails and came across T&c's, this looks like I will be fine to cancel as delivery date was purposely put to Sep 15 due to unkown completion of extension.

For all our Products we will allow you to cancel or change your Order at any

time up until 28 days before the delivery date agreed at the time of your

Order (the Cooling Off Period). After the Cooling Off Period has expired you

will not be able to cancel or change your Order for Products because

production of your Order will have commenced.

its not 10% of £800 its 10% of £8000, hence £800 deposit paid

Thanks for that info, re reading T&C's it does not state anywhere about non refunable deposits so may refer to this if they kick up a fuss

    Just a thought...

Perhaps if you used some punctuation in your posts, then some ambiguity could be avoided.

You can walk into Wrens and a salesman will sit down and design your Kitchen for free ,no deposit is asked for untill you actually place you order.

So paying a deposit has nothing to do with the hour spent with the poorly trained saleman trying to design your Kichen,

Asking for a deposit up front is just a trick companies use to make it harder for customers to later change their mind if they see a better deal elsewhere.
