returning faulty goods to Aldi?

has anyone returned faulty electrical goods to Aldi? if so how did you get on? I have a vacuum bought in Decemeber which is faulty. After going back to the shop I have to phone a helpline number as its still under guarantee which is fine but just wanted to know how other people have got on if they have had faulty goods or goods which have developed a fault? thanks

You don't need to phone the helpline number, your contract is with Aldi, get them to call it as it will probably be one of those expensive 0870 numbers.

I just posted a reply on another forum five minutes ago. To cut a long story short, bought the car radio/cd recently, packed up, took it back. Receipt showed one month, three days from purchase, Aldi didn't want to know. Phoned helpline, expensive of course, did as suggested, no joy. Phoned again, return item to distributor, UPS envelope arrived in post, van turned up at 16:45 on the day, so a whole day wasted waiting in, plus 20 mile trip to Aldi previously. Gone a week now, no result, will it ever come back, and if so, will it work properly? If not, more aggro, why bother? The electricals are good, generally, and competitively priced, but no more, thanks, don't need the bother. We've got a house full of Aldi, Lidl, and Tchibo products, and mostly have been fine, but as from now, I think I'll leave Aldi out of the equation, at least for electricals.
  • I attempted to return a faulty item to the store in Glasgow. The assistant insisted that he had to get a colleague as it was more than 30 days since purchase .When he arrived ,he claimed, that though it was faulty,I would have to get in touch with the manufacturer. He said that as it was in their little handout ,which they are now giving to people and I have never seen before in my life.I had a receipt ,the original packing and had never been able to use the item .It is also an Aldi item with no other firm involved. It says packaged for Aldi on the pack.Another customer told him I was right ,but he claimed that the legislation had changed. My husband and I have spent a considerable amount in the store since it opened recently. This item cost £3 pounds 50p.I was not asked what was wrong with the item, not offered a replacement and would not feel any confidence in buying a larger value item.I intend to report them to trading standards and will not shop there again.
