A business will rarely discount a sale so that it is below the price it paid for the item. There are very good legal reasons for this. A director of a Ltd Co' that establishes a line of credit, then sells its purchases at a loss, or near loss, faces prison time if/when it all goes belly up.

Any business that regularly discounts its products at massive percentages is almost always still making a massive profit at the sale price.

Read it and weep. You only thought you were gettting a bargain.

Actually I didn't. Eng Lang or Eng Lit wasn't my target subjects but I did still come out near the tops of my class. Well above one of our finest poet/songwriter/authors of today in fact.

The same sofa will be on sale on Monday, it will just have a different name and some minor cosmetic change. Try it - go into the store the day after the sale and look at the sofa on display. I bet it will be the same one, but with a new tag on it.

Which is why you ask the question. If it was for a week in a couple of stores, or they can't tell you it's obviously a sham to ensure the 'discount' ads comply with weak trading laws.

There was a time when I took much amusement by baiting DFS salesmen.

If you ever want to learn how to do it, then first you must learn how not to do it.

DFS is one of the bestest places to do this that I have ever come across.

They are so mechanically scripted that it is almost embarrassing to engage them in conversation.
