So it drops off even if it's not been settled? I might as well wait, then, and see if they reapply Oct 16 - in which case I will at least know who it is to cough up the money.

    Thanks all for the input.

    Hi VisionThing,

Once the CCJ reaches six years it will come off the report, and wouldn't be re-added. Although whoever the debt was with would still be able to chase you for it.

Our ask James page covers dealing with mystery CCJs in here including the options for getting set-aside.

I hope you find this useful!

    Kind Regards
    Neil

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

  • Thank you very much for that, Neil. I think as it's almost 5yrs old, applying to have it set aside will be counter-productive.
I have discovered a lot of other useful information from that section of your website, so thank you again for taking the time to reply.
