Just had to log in at this. The bit you highlighted in the quote, it refers to effort, this implies you think there is no effort as a lurker?

I have already, way back on previous discussion, put on record some reasons. Could not help but point out that it is a lot harder for those of us not part of any 'group or in and cliche. I see quite a few mentions of pm's and thanks for text tipping off about one thing or other.

So whilst I contribute very little, I would if I had anything to contribute, I find it hard to believe it is easier for me than someone who's made connection with others and can text or pm and get details, not to mention the other place with groups. Sorry just could not help but point it out as a few, not many but enough, have a dim view of lurkers which I think is pretty sad.

I have been 'around' since the DTD days, tail end unfortunately when the cap was in place and seen the inception of this thread. Took quite a while away following a lot of nonsense and RL which got in way of me keeping up. It is certainly far from easy for me, others may find it easy but I certainly don't.

Going too far now but I also see what you'd term regulars pop in for what they need and toddle off for long periods of time, swings and roundabouts. I find it surprising and disappointing that in a place that tends to accept all and try and understand others and situations that this downer on lurkers persists. I think lurkers that actually make use of this thread do leg work in the reading and keeping up, others who are not prepared to would drop off. I see many a mention of search function, mine never gets me any info I want so I make a point of keeping up.

IF you have been around since the start then you will know that the thread was made so as not to clog up grabbit with chatter.
Midwinters tree has branches for everyone.

Yes quite a few of us pm or text because we have made the effort to meet up in real life or done one another a few good turns sharing moc's ect by post or email and friendships have grown.

This thread is not just here for shopping and glitches but not just chatter so not in The Arms. There are no real cliques just alot of virtual friendships grown by getting to know each other.

This thread is a lifeline to some of us with no one else to talk to at night and the support is, in a way, stronger than some families and non judgemental.
If you have always kept up then you must understand this. I lost my father due to a harrowing illness and it was and still is traumatic to me.
The people on here you think waste time on RL chatter have been so supportive.
The thing is everyone's RL throws up challenges and through this we grow and in turn support others facing what we once faced.
Sick children, those with children being bullied, home schooling, divorces, moving house, death or illness of a loved one. Plus rejoicing in births of newborns and give birthday wishes.
If you find this chatter not required then I would say go elsewhere but you won't as you know the best glitches on food and toiletries are most likely posted here first.

I do not like the term lurker either as this forum is public but slightly harder to find purposely as a slight knowledge is needed to get things right. It is not basic money saving mse style but the more extreme end of this wonderful website.
I also hate the term newbie but we were all new once and if polite the posters on here have unlimited patience and will PM and mentor a bit.

Also the posters here have a huge range of professions so expert advise is on hand for anything (except medical as again forum rules).

Where else could you get recipes, glitches, cheap deals, legal advice, housing advice, information on decorating, building and in my experience how to recognise the breed of your 'Bunny'.

Sorry but I feel strongly about this. If there was no chatter there would be no thread.

Love it for what it is and skip the bits that you think are not relevant to you but be assured they are relevant to most of us.

Also you don't need to find a glitch to post and saying hello once a week means if you need help with something you can ask with confidence. If someone knows the answer or where to find it you will most likely be told. If it is a day where there is no one around who knows the answer you will most likely get a polite reply saying so.

Sorry if post offends anyone but everyone is welcome to read this thread with no need to even log in let alone post. But please do not be disrespectful or annoyed if you have to skip past RL chatter as that is our backbone.

I must also add that anyone that can do these glitches without ever asking questions has my upmost admiration as it is not easy. Some glitches I can't make head or tail of until an apg is posted.
I am lucky as to have made very good friends both real life and virtual here plus have met quite a few glitch chasers in store.
