Sounds like you've done a good job mhoc......you pushed him out of the nest and he flew:T:T:T

No pushing needed -he went if his own accord, very determined single minded young man, very independant - but yes he is definitely soaring

I keep meaning to ask how are your gang adapting to you having to be chief cook for now - obviously all still thriving so you have not poisoned anyone :)

  • Av just read that a red setter dog has been poisoned at crufts and died at his belgian home.i love dogs, as u all probably have gathered and am sickened, not just at this death, but also because I feel that the kennel club has been alot to blame for certain individuals who have the gall to say they are dog lovers.i have owned many pedigree great danes over the years, been to shows and have encountered some of the nastiest, most up themselves ppl I have ever come across.all that is on their minds is money and how much they can sell their dogs offspring for because they have a crufts champ.
there is so much rivalry and snid5e comments, snobbishness and bribery that you wouldnt believe.
they all know the judges and take it in turns to get enough certificate wins to compete at crufts.this year the gloves seem to have well and truely come off, laxitives in water, chewing gum in coats, !!!!!es on heat secretly brought in.there is so much money associated with crufts that its now attracting overseas competitors and I think that will be the final straw.
any self respecting dog owner would not even think of taking their dog anywhere near if they value their dog as much as they say.
my dogs are , always have been and always will be a valued member of my family, not a money making , breeding machine.
im sorry for ranting on but feel so strongly and will always stand up for something that cant speak for itself.

Yes I have all sorts of plans for a big re vamp of me but what is holding me back is I've stopped driving - very long complicated reasons why, not even sure if there are reasons. I am my own worst enemy

Yes we have got the very worst case of empty nest syndrome - we actually had a totally empty nest for about 18 months after youngest son went north and we were adjusting nicely - reclaiming the space, making the house our own, making new routines, doing stuff to amuse ourselves rather than Kids etc

    - then at the start of the year eldest son came back to the uk.
He was stationed abroad - been away for 3 years (aside from coming home on leave)
He is now stationed only about 70 mins away and is now doing regular weekday hours, billeted there but at weekends he heads home - not to see us, we are incidental but all of his mates are still local.

We knew this would take some adjustments for all 3 of us and we did discuss this issue in detail - usual stuff like keeping in touch and letting us know if and when he was coming home for the weekend so we could plan meals as and when, not treating the house as a hotel etc
That fell on deaf ears ...

Ahh. I totally get this. DS1 is spending a lot of time at home because of the situation with OH, and bless him for doing so :A but he also has a lot of old school friends in the area. That, combined with his recent break up means our house has been a crashing pad for him all weekend....and there were others wandering around this morning!

I won't complain because he's helped me out a lot lately, gone above and beyond so to speak.

At least you're getting to see eldest son, albeit fleetingly. Think of how it felt when he was so far away and you couldn't? I guess it's a case of seeing the positives. Don't know what happened with your driving but that's a real shame :( it's the key to so much freedom.

I think the way your kids come and go should comfort you. It means they know they have parents who will have them at any time. You've brought them up to know they are always welcome, no matter what. That's not the case for all children who leave home. yes they are young and thoughtless......but they don't think twice about being made welcome or being an inconvenience and that's a credit to you and your husband ;)
  • Anyway, noone would stand a chance against sally wag...:rotfl:
