Some very wicked thoughts are now going through my head :rotfl:
We didn't even see him on or even near his birthday - instead him and his mate went up to the Cairngorns - nice photos on facebook, didn't bother to contact us though.
His birthday chocolate cake is still here in the freezer.
That was just before half term in February.
In fact we have not seen him since the middle of January - yes he has wi fi in his house and he can Skype but doesn't - we might get the odd phone call.
He is back at the end of March for a week, doing a course locally so I suppose we have to be greatful for that
mhoc I think you have empty nest syndrome
I'm not sure if my nest will ever quite be emptybut I sort of look forward to it. Love my kids to bits and love being around them but I'm thinking forward to where I'll be by the time they're all off doing their own things
I still see myself as being on a bit of a career break. I haven't got to where I was originally going yet :rotfl::rotfl:
Have you thought about something just for you? PT job, some volunteering? Maybe you need some me time0 -
mhoc - feel free to rant away and can I please join you on the neglected parents list? Two weeks ago dd2 was driving home from university on the Sunday but didn't arrive until late Monday afternoon. She had stayed the night at a friends on the way. She went out again about 2 hours later only to return on Tuesday afternoon. This time she had been out and stayed with friends in a Travelodge. She went to bed for a nap, got up and drove back to university again. We got to see her for a total of about 3 hours just long enough for her to raid my stash, empty the food cupboards and get petrol money from dh.:(
Exactly - their friends are everything - parents are just wallpaper.
The trouble is we know what will happen but we still set our expectations too high and they do the same to us every time. I don't know why we expect things to be different.
There are a myriad ways of keeping in touch now and that's what I sat to them as they disappear out if the door - keep in touch, text us when you get there - it falls on deaf ears, as soon as they shut their car doors they completely forgot us ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
