Well done bananababe on passing your economics unit. :T
I went swimming again this morning (before work ). Another half mile swum.
I have just thrown a bit of a tantrum which resulted in me throwing a peanut m&m easter egg on the floor, stamping on it, then throwing all the bits in the bin so no-one could eat it.
DD was being a bit of a brat, joke that got out of hand and she seemed to think she deserved the egg. The packaging got damaged so couldn't give it to anyone (others got subbed and one got nicked off the tesco van, don't ask (!) so it was a freebie anyway), and I am being good, so kind of lost it a bit. Think she was a bit shocked, she has apologised but has gone upstairs, probably to sulk. :rotfl:
What a waste of free chocolate though, not sure what I was thinking!

Just seen your post about your tantrum (I probably shouldn't be chuckling!)
I'd probably have done the same although I'd have already have fished the choc back out the bin and melted it down by now to use on something else
DD once wound me up so much I threw her toys out of the bedroom window. I was gutted when they my little pony house stayed intact, flaming thing just wouldn't break!Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000

The Mark&Sparks savings looks good, but to get it I need to open a current account with them, and you get a bonus for switching to one, and I don't want to move my current account. I've heard people talk about opening a new account to then switch it, and get the bonus, would that work?
Can I ask which bank account people open to switch from? I don't have much income (I'm self employed), so I'm worried about credit histories and things.
(Sorry if these questions are obvious or answered elsewhere, even thinking about banking gives me the heebie jeebies a bit)
Would your current bank let you open up a new bog-standard current account, to put about a pound or two into, to switch to M&S? That's what I've done, since I don't want to lose my Halifax reward account, purely in order to switch to X Bank in order to pick up £Y reward. I shall pay money in, and do as much lip service as possible towards the terms and conditions, but I don't intend to keep the account I'm switching to as it is a paltry 2% interest so as much as possible will go back to Santander or elsewhere, then once I've qualified for and got the switch reward, I shall be closing the whole thing down.
As for a savings account, why go for a savings account? I thought current accounts were the way to go. Unless there's some reason, that you can't meet minimum direct debit requirements for some current accounts, then I go for them. Perhaps Nationwide's 5% on £2,500 (if you've not already had that for a year), Lloyds 4% on £5,000, TSB that doesn't require direct debits, and the rest maybe Santander's 3%. Lloyds let you open a Club Saver account which also gives 4% (or did when I opened) although only a set limit per month is saved. There's also a 'bog-standard' saver but it's 2%, so I've shut that down and sharpish transferred it back to 3% Santander (unfortunately I'm not able to have Nationwide just yet).
If you're applying for a credit card, or want to make a mortgage application, then lots of different bank account openings is perhaps not a good idea. However, I've got no wish for either, and don't intend getting either, so I'm really not bothered at all about that. I don't know about income as in savings - my concern was that I am not currently working and therefore might be refused the account from the new bank if I didn't have enough 'income' to be transferring in each month. However, that though proved to be unfounded - I still have quite a lot of savings (in current accounts:rotfl:*) and money to go round back and forth. As for income, I assume you are still getting more than the personal allowance amounts (I am not a tax expert btw and nothing I say is giving any advice); if not then do not forget to register for tax-exempt interest if you qualify for that.
*That I seem to be merely mitigating against loss of interest:( as each deal ends and I seem to be moving to the (sadly) next best interest rate deal.0 -

I put it in the outside bin and deliberately opened the packaging so no-one could fish it out. Even emptied the packet of m&m's into the bin as well.
I did recycle the packaging though, so not all bad! :rotfl:0 -
