I still can't find what I want. Simple sleeveless dress in natural fabric, WITH A POCKET! or two.

i was dreading taking my mum mother of the bride shopping, but once we hit the house of frazer it was fine. she chose an outfit by eastex in a size 22. it was not cheap, but as her only daughter i am only planning on getting married once - so the cost is a bit of a one off.
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"

Been rather too busy for shopping lately, but must get back to it.
    Thanks for the interesting suggestions.

That reminds me, taking Mum to get a new outfit for my cousin's wedding, we were astonished to walk into a shop at the McArthur Glen outlet at Swindon, and I think it must have been Coast we went to first, and she walked out all kitted out!

Well the wedding has been and gone. Lovely weather for both days, fortunately. Not a wellie in sight, though it rained heavily the next day.

Having scoured the shops, JL, House of Fraser and Debenhams had nothing suitable in my size, so there was no point using a Personal Shopper service. Their websites had clothes I liked, but I wanted to try them on first.

I looked at various other makes online, also bridal shops, but felt their outfits were OTT.
I went to Boundary Stores, an out of town outlet with many makes, and tried a few on. The one I liked best, which also suited my shape, was a Jacques Vert dress, and various jackets could have gone with it. But they were pricey, and the dress wAs hardly different from one in my wardrobe, a navy shift worn just a few times, but not at family occasions.
So, being very MSE minded, I decided to wear the navy shift, which made me look slimmer than I am. I picked out one of the colours in it and found a jacket in M& S to match. I already had a pair of shoes worn once at a wedding, and I bought a small handbag- actually I got two for the price of one, one White, one navy and I can use them both again.
    Total outlay £60!
On the Saturday it was blazing hot, and when it was time to get changed I knew I could not wear the dress and jacket, so I opted for a new top I had bought for under £30, reduced from £45, and some not new comfy trousers with sandals.
Job done, and I felt comfortable with my choices.
My daughter of course looked absolutely stunning!she had different dresses for each day, which must have cost a fortune, but that's her privilege.

    Congratulations all round!!
Glad to hear that it went well.
Having only just found this thread I was going to offer that Bon Marche have some possible outfits in large sizes.
I've been invited to a wedding in very early October (mmmm...what will that weather be like?!) in Westminster! so no muddy puddles or wellies, rather up market I suspect. I was going to wear something from my cruise wardrobe but not sure if they will be suitable for UK temperatures! At present hunting on websites for ideas (also a plus size, so choice is on limited side!)
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
