It's not a lending policy I've ever heard of.
OP I'd suggest reposting in the mortgage forum. Plenty of advice from brokers available there.0 -
This is absolutely correct. It has always been Halifax's policy.
I have known MA's being disciplined for taking applications where there was an unreasonable distance between the property and the workplace, and no reasonable explanation was documented.
They would not accept living with relatives during the week as a suitable reason (in my day!).
They will (or certainly used to) take applications from forces personnel with the property being a distance from where they are stationed, and would even normally give consent to lease.20 plus years as a mortgage adviser for Halifax (have now retired), and I have pretty much seen it all....:D0 -

Interesting, I have just accepted a job in London and live in Bournemouth (120 mile, 2 hour train journey). I intend to travel up now and again and stay over with friends when I need to be there on consecutive days, but mostly I will work from home. Will this affect my chances of a re-mortgate in August?0
