You should have updated your WIN98 before M$ ended support in July 2006. If you can't now update your IE, you may be better downloading Firefox as previously mentioned.

You could try Control + F5 to refresh the new forum pages from the server and bypass your local cache which should help.

 Ctrl+F5 worked, but I don't understand all this technical stuff -Thank goodness for techies like yourself :D .
A new computer is on the cards. But what do you suggest I do about this one, should I consider buying later version of windows and loading it on here? Would that solve my problems. Explorer is continually crashing and the computer is generally not happy?!!!

Try giving it spring clean with CCleaner which is a well respected cleanup tool and you could also try using Firefox as your browser as your IE is so out of date now. If you are thinking about a new replacement PC, I doubt if a new version of Windows would be cost effective and your spec may not be good enough anyway. You may find that you are OK when you have cleared out all of the old cached info.

Went and had a look at ccleaner - initially it gives the impression that it is freeware. However, when ran regcure got told I had 190 errors that needed fixing and that it would only fix one of them unless I subscribed! costs $30 unsure what that is in sterling? Only on a very low income as I am I'm always wary about random purchases, but sounds like you'd consider this money well spent.

I'd wipe down my machine, but the rub always comes regarding outlook and my stored emails, always get confused how to safely export and import these so usually have to suffer losing them?!!
Is it possible to reload win98 without disrupting other stuff? Or should I be asking this type of question on another thread somewhere?

Don't know what you have downloaded? Regcure? Clicked on a pop-up perhaps but read about ccleaner here.

Those Google ads on the right seem to trap a lot of people.
Used to be worse before they had a grey border around them.

Must be about the 4th time I've seen someone sent to CCleaner and come out with something else

Ccleaner is FREE. Uninstall Regcure or whatever you downloaded (via Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs).

Then go to http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and click the down3.gif on the right to download CCleaner.

Thanks for those kind words.......But it does make you feel rather silly and senile I have to say. Have gone in again thanks to expresso and chippy minton.......Cheers guys:beer:and have found proper download site.
How do I run the download tho? Is a firefox setting stopping it maybe? 'cos pressed 'clean up' and nothing happened? Duh?!!
Must admit firefox has got me right foxed at the moment?!!!! Appears really complex have all sorts of icons, msgs etc that are all too confusing to me?!!

I'm feelin really dumb at the mo!!!! I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually. But currently trying to find my way around the settings, customisation etc, which is giving me a headache!:wall:
Firefox seems a bit slow, but that's perhaps due to my computers age? (8yrs) dunno?!
