Just a query.
If someone looses their driving license and needs to re-sit their driving test in order to get it back, will they end-up with the same classifications on the new license as they had on their original (i.e. original test passed 1989, re-test passed in 2015)?.
I see mentions in the press of people loosing their licenses and requiring re-tests, so was just curious.

So you're talking about being convicted for dangerous driving?0

The rules requiring a re-test cover many types of offence. From dangerous driving to simply getting 6 points or more within 2 years of your original test pass.
Hence, the question is purely a general one.Never Knowingly Understood.

Six points is a revocation not a ban.
You can apply for a new licence and drive straight away.0 -

Maybe you can tell us about being disqualified until test passed then?
Our OP is a little confused about being disqualified and the new driver revocation. I'm sure one of your comprehensive explanation will leave him free of any doubts.;)0 -

That's an interesting one, e.g. would you now be able to tow a trailer etc. I assume you'd have to take the test for each category again.0 -
In answer to the original question, if you passed in 1989 and were disqualified until test passed the new driver part won't come into it.
You sit out your ban until you are allowed to apply for a new licence and at such time you will get a provisional. You can then drive under the terms of a provisional licence holder, be supervised and display L plates to learn and pass a test.
However should you drive otherwise in accordance you then revert back to being a disqualified driver, face arrest and going back to court for the ban to be extended.
Once you pass a test, I would presume you get all your entitlements back as you are not ordered to take multiple tests. The only thing that could be different is if you have to appear before the traffic commissioner and he decides to remove any vocational entitlements.0 -

but yet again, you decide to jump to the defensive.
and you still got it wrong and you seem to be confused about new driver 2 probation as you got that wrong too.0 -

Yeah under the terms of a provisional, if you are ddtp you must sit out a ban before you can drive again as a provisional.0 -

But do you? My licence is old enough to have the additional categories such as towing, but Marley's licence (four years ago) doesn't have those categories. So if I were to lose my licence and have to re-take the test, would I definitely get all the categories back or would it be treated as a new licence?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
