Hi I recently looked at the haggling guide for Sky TV
I had an old HD+ box which froze all the time
I was paying around£65 per month for my package with sports
I was initially told a new box was around £200 plus a fee for the 2 TB box I wanted. I did not want refurbished or a similar box
I initially stopped SKy sports and don't get to watch it and then phoned them to disconnect as I was moving to a free view service
I did not want to pay for a new box as I have been with them for well over 10 years and never had any offers. I did not want Multiroom and wanted to reduce my monthly payments.
A really nice chap at sky sorted the following
My package -20% for 9 months
2TB £49- even though I was not taking multi room
He applied Multiroom then cancelled it to make this happen
£0 for the instillation
A 2TB box
I now have a box which works with everything I want and paying significantly cheaper than before
£62.50 before
After removing Sports and by discount
under £30 a month for Variety bundle and HD + and also got to keep F1, which is normally only available now through Sports
Thanks u MSE

Wonder if its going to get harder to haggle now that they have committed to an obscene amount for Premiership footy rights ?? There must come a point financially where they are prepared to loose customers rather than offer big discounts ??0

I think for most people they get a good deal and then stay once the 12 months are up. The small price increases (often) don't really 'connect' at first. It would take a lot of people to 'wake up' before the cost of the deals outweighs the ongoing future increased revenue. And I'm sure they don't lose money on the deals in the first place.
