Opening emails in desktop not apps on Windows 8.

The trouble is that when I try to follow the directions on that last link I don't have a mailto showing under applications.

Hmm. You may not have a mailto content type because you don't have a "standard mail client" installed e.g. Windows Live Mail or Outlook.

SO, install an addon. This SHOULD populate the mailto content type... I suggest try this for starters

I installed the add on, and I now have mailto in applications.
I chose Y mail then clicked an email link and it opened in firefox.
I'm really grateful for all the time you have spent helping me get this sorted.

Jivesinger thank you very much, I did check your link and I had looked at that page before I just couldn't work out what to do without having the mailto link there.

Only if all else fails....Sometimes the Beta version has extra functions and other times it loses something.
The mailto works perfectly in my version 35.0.1. So as a last resort it won't do any harm to change versions.
