It said true, I changed it to false then back to true, shut down the browser and checked again and it's still not there.
I had the task manager open earlier and it said firefox was 32-bit and this laptop is a 64-bit, would that make any difference.
As above, what does network.protocol-handler.expose.mailto
say?
Either set it to false or create an entry:-
1. Right-click -> New -> Boolean -> Name: network.protocol-handler.expose.mailto -> Value -> false
2. Next time you click a link of protocol-type mailto you will be asked which application to open it with. Possibly. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
I tried both ways and each time when I clicked on an email link it's not asking me to choose it just opens a chrome window.
When I just went to click on a new page on MSE it asked me to choose an application for http links and firefox was there in that list.0 -
:-( I'll have a look on my Windows8 box when I get home.
In the mean-time I suggest you DO remove and get the latest firefox (not sure if it keeps bookmarks et al; or just do an update through the help - About Firefox box?)If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
You could always upgrade it to Windows 7...0

I update Firefox first but it made no difference so then I un-installed it then re-installed the latest version, it still has no mailto though.0

Just checked the version of firefox it is 36.0 and it says it is up to date.0

Isn't 36 on the Beta channel? Thought the Alpha was 35.0.1??
Not sure if that may be your problem....
Or I might just be wrong..:)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Final try tonight. Close firefox; find file mimetypes.rdf (**) - make a copy of it (ctrlC, ctrlV is easiest). DELETE file mimetypes.rdf
Try again to find content type mailto.
(**) File will be under somewhere like
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\a6rcfky0.default-1421710882373If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
I'm not sure Firefox itself can open mail - see this for instance:
